Sue Carnevale

I am drawn to the elegance, simplicity, and serenity of Chinese brush painting. My love and awe of nature inspires me to use color, ink, and simple but powerful brush strokes to represent the inherent magnificence of the natural world. I love the spontaneity, immediacy, and use of negative space in Chinese brush painting. My favorite subjects are flowers, birds, and other animals.

I have studied Chinese brush painting for over 25 years with instruction, guidance and inspiration from Jean Shen, Tom Chow, Lucy Wang, and other master teachers. I have held several positions on the Board of the Chinese Brush Painting Society in San Diego, including President, and am a member of AACBP Lung Hsiang Chapter.

My work has been exhibited at the Spanish Village Art Center and Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park, the Borrego Art Institute, the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum, the San Diego Botanic Garden, and other venues in the San Diego area.
